Fresh Energy supports U.S. Mayors Climate Protection
Agreement
July 25, 2006 - J. Drake Hamilton, Timothy Rose
and Michael
Noble attended a special reception at the Science Museum of Minnesota
for Minnesota mayors to learn more about the US. Mayors Climate
Protection Agreement. Mayors or elected leaders from 20 Minnesota
cities, representing over one million Minnesotans, attended the
reception co-hosted by Fresh Energy. Speakers were Eric Jolly,
Ph.D., President, Science Museum of Minnesota; Dominique Conseil,
President, Aveda Corporation; Andrew
Seaton, Consul-General, British Consulate-General, Chicago; Chris
Coleman, Mayor of Saint Paul; and J. Drake Hamilton from Fresh
Energy.
The lead sponsor of the event was Saint Paul mayor Chris
Coleman. Mayor Coleman, along with mayors and city councils of
five other Minnesota cities to date (Apple Valley, Duluth, Eden
Prairie, Minneapolis, and Rochester) and 266 cities worldwide have
voluntarily committed their cities to meeting the emissions reductions in
the Kyoto Protocol, and working to secure state and federal policy
to protect the climate. Mayors, city council members, and their
guests also viewed a global warming photographic exhibit—NorthSouthEastWest —on display at the Museum courtesy of the British Consulate-General.

Global warming. What can you do?
July 11, 2006 - J. Hamilton and Fresh Energy member
Doug Pierce spoke at Linden Hills Neighborhood Council Board Meeting
about the effects of climate change and what communities can
do. Attendees were informed and empowered by learning about the
local resources available to address this serious global crisis.
About 70 residents attended the 30-minute talk.

July 1, 2006 - Fresh Energy staff educated market attendees
about the connection between global warming and food choices. Read,

event.

Renewable Energy
and Sustainable Living Fair
June 23, 24, 25, 2006 - Fresh Energy's science policy
director, J. Drake Hamilton, gave the opening keynote at the 2006
Renewable Energy and Sustainable Living Fair in Wisconsin, hosted
by the Midwest Renewable Energy Association. This three-day festival
is the world's largest venue to learn about renewable energy, energy efficiency,
and sustainable living. This year’s fair drew more than 18,000 participants
from around the country. J. ’s one-hour presentation focused on global
warming solutions and the need for government and business leadership.
Fresh Energy was represented by
J., her husband Pat, and Fresh Energy's media relations director
Timothy Rose. J., Pat, and Timothy collected hundreds of letters
encouraging U.S. senators to take action on global warming.

Looking for Leadership - A Global
Warming Colloquium
June 21, 2006 - Hamline University’s Center for
Global Environmental Education convened a panel of distinguished
speakers to discuss leadership on global warming. Fresh Energy’s science
policy director J. Drake Hamilton was honored to join St. Paul Mayor Chris
Coleman, polar explorer Will Steger, and Cynthia Lesher, president
and CEO of NSP (Xcel Energy) for Minnesota, South Dakota, and North
Dakota, on the panel and for the lively audience discussion.
